Cheers for Kanaval!
Children at Pwoje Espwa celebrated Kanaval last week! Donned in colorful masks, they chanted and danced together in celebration.
In some places, it is known as Mardis Gras. In others, it is known as Carnival. In Haiti, "Kanaval" is one of the biggest celebrations of the year. Held over several weeks leading up to Shrove Tuesday, Kanaval celebrations take place in cities all over the country. People fill the streets in colorful costumes as they march in parades to the beat of Rara music.
For all those who celebrate Carnival, Mardis Gras, Kanaval - whatever you refer to the holiday leading up to Ash Wednesday - we hope it was full of music and laughter!
