The Power of Play!

Play is a great outlet for all of the energy and giggles they somehow hold in their little bodies, but it also contributes to a child’s cognitive, physical, social and emotional well-being.

In fact, play is so optimal to child development that it has been recognized by the United Nations High Commission for Human Rights as a right of every child.

The child development staff at Pwoje Espwa recognize this inalienable right and provide an environment for the children to play – like during summer camp!

Play time offers a setting for creativity, imagination, physical development, and emotional and cognitive growth. It is through play that children engage, create, and explore the world and how they interact within it.

Play gives children a safe environment in which they can explore the world so that they may develop new competencies and skills such as decision-making, leadership, and conflict-resolution; enhance self-confidence; and, most of all, garner resiliency in the face of adversity so that they can face future challenges.

Play encourages healthy minds and healthy bodies! Staff and children at Pwoje Espwa love their playtime. Check out those smiles!
